Pinterest Garden Inspired Christmas Decor!

When it comes to decorating, the garden is my favorite inspiration.  I love the diversity of colors...from earth tones to vibrant that the garden offers.  The garden also offers a huge variety of textures and shapes as well.

Scanning Christmas Garden Decoration Ideas on Pinterest yielded some really fun ideas for your garden this year.  And...if you don't actually make them, the creativity they display is worth the look.

What's perfect for the kitchen this season?  How about putting together a small edible wreath made up of herbs from the garden?  Make it up a few days before gift giving and it's ready to use.  Or you can give it to them at any time and allow it to dry.  This wreath has bay leaves, sage, thyme and blooming oregano.  This is sure to please the savviest of cooks!

I love this beautiful Moss wreath for Christmas.  The colors, the textures and the square shape make it a show stopper.  What reindeer wouldn't want to visit this house?  Click on the caption under the photo for directions on how to make your own.

Simple is always nice.  This rustic garland made with dried orange slices and twine would look great on any mantel or Christmas tree.  Make your own or buy them at a craft store for an instant garden look inside!

Even the most craft-challenged person can put holly berry sprigs under a wine glass with some tea lights on top.  This is a beautiful table top decoration for a special Christmas meal or use a flame-less tea light to use all season long.  A great way to use those crystal wine glasses tucked away in the cabinet.

Have pinecones?  Gild them with a quick spray of white paint and hang them from a rustic chandelier for a super outdoorsy, nature inspired holiday decoration!  This one is simplicity at its best!

No need to put away those garden shepherd hooks this year!  Decorate them up with your own version of Christmas cheer!  Check out the link below the photo for step by step instructions from the Love Gone Wild blog.

I couldn't resist this photo because it's just so clever!  Made up of driftwood, this gardener has Christmas cheer all year long with this rustic branch tree.  It adds texture and character to the garden and I bet the birds like it too!

What's your favorite garden inspired Christmas decoration?

Blessings!

The Great Geauga County Fair: An A-Fair to Remember

A curious thing happens every time September rolls around...we get this tremendous hankering to go to our favorite fair.  Not sure why it happens.  Maybe it has to do with the fact that we live in a tightly packed lakefront community with nary a chicken around.  The only beasts that inhabit our neighborhood space are the canine variety (in all the largest sizes) and your random three wheelers that roar down the streets at any time of day.  We love where we live, but there is something very compelling about visiting the barnyard animals, crafts, and food of the fair.  This fair has the distinction of being the oldest county fair in Ohio and it's the vintage parts of the fair we enjoy the most.

So, join us for a quick visit around.  I tried to condense as many of the pictures as possible so you get a good idea of what it's like.  If you live locally by this fair, you will really want to make it next year...it's too fun and sweet to miss.

On our way!  First stops are at the fair buildings housing all the art, crafts, baked goods, and produce...

The apples looked amazing..

I always think I'll enter some of my vegetables like this Delicata winter squash pictured above right, but I never remember in time.  However, there's always next year!

One of my next favorite stops; gardening, arts and crafts.

SERIOUS arts and crafts!

And it's not the fair without all the animals..

This wascally wabbit won a blue ribbon...had to get a picture of him.

Drawing inspiration from the duck barn, we have the classic "duck face" pose.

We love to support 4-H and milkshakes seem like the perfect opportunity...

The fair has a huge section complete with man made lake to showcase the park system of the northeast area of the state.  They have dog demos showing retrievers in action, fishing for the kids and archery.  Not to mention nature/bird displays as well as a few classes.

Music, from folk to classic band is always around the corner.  This shady spot away from the midway was a great place to relax and take a break from the sweltering heat that day.

Just a glimpse inside a fabulous day but I must leave you with one more memory....

Visit the Great Geauga County Fair and you can own your own too...blessings!!

Vintage Tea Room Fun

Remember When Tea Room
You may be thinking, a tea room?  Not for me, too old school.  But any of you lovers of Downton Abbey will have to agree that it's exactly this kind of place, or the pure opulence and "fruffery" of the scenery that drew you back to the tv set week after week.
This was my second visit to this place, "Remember When Tea Room" and I came back because I remembered how unique, fun and inspiring it was here.  Not to mention the tea selection with over 60 different varieties and great food to boot.  It's not just the food and tea I was after, but a great experience as well...
So, fix yourself a cup of tea and sit back to enjoy a visual feast of colors, food, nics-nacs of every kind imaginable. You'll see these and anything else you can imagine in this one-of-a-kind tea room with its painted floors, ceilings and vintage retro item-filled rooms.
There are way too many pics here, but I had a difficult time whittling them down; the memories of the experience fueling my photo enthusiasm. I think you'll enjoy this visit as much as I and my lovely companions, mom, sister and mom-in-law!  Enjoy...

Happy faces to greet ya...
